My Spiritual Flashlight

Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.  ~ Psalms 119:105

There is no doubt that we live in a spiritually dark world. Bible prophecies say that, in the last days, spiritual darkness will abound. We are certainly watching the days grow darker as our nation and our society wanders farther away from the light of God’s truth. The Bible also tells us that in the last days many believers will be deceived and fall away from faith.

When there is a power outage, we understand the value of light. Five of the virgins in Matthew 25 were called foolish because they let their lamps go out and were not prepared for the coming of the bridegroom. They had a power outage. I believe the difference between the foolish and the wise prior to the coming of Christ will be that the wise are ready and have embraced the lamp and the light of God’s Holy Word, while the foolish want to rely on the knowledge, and the spiritual resources of others!

The Bible says in Matthew 24:44. “You also must be ready all the time, for the Son of Man will come when least expected.”

In the parable of the ten virgins in Matthew 25, five were ready when the bridegroom came and five were not. All ten were waiting, but only five were ready. What if that were true in the church today? What if only half of those who are waiting for Jesus are truly ready?

The question I want to ask you is, “are you ready?” Are you living ready to meet the Lord? Are you reading His Word every day? Are you living your life in accordance to His Word? Are you talking to Him every day? Are you walking with Him every day?

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for the illumination Your Word brings to life. Without You, without Your Word, and the Holy Spirit, we are the blind leading the blind through life. It is so easy to look around society and see families living without You and watch on generation teach the next generation how to fail at life. Lord, save us from ourselves, cast Your light on our path. Show me Your ways! In Jesus’ Name, amen.
